Scope and our role

This policy covers the Skipper website, web application, and related support and service communications. It does not cover third-party services that have their own privacy notices.

We act as a controller for account, billing, website, security, and service-usage information. When we process personal information contained in files, instructions, or outputs for a business customer, we generally act as that customer’s processor or service provider. The customer is responsible for its instructions and for providing required notices to the people whose information appears in Customer Content.

Information we collect

We collect information you provide, information generated when you use the service, and limited information from service providers.

  • Account and profile information, such as your name, work email, preferred language, organization, role, login provider, and account timestamps.
  • Customer Content, including files, instructions, messages, and outputs you provide or create through the service.
  • Billing and transaction information, such as billing contact details, billing address, plan, purchases, subscription status, and payment identifiers. Stripe processes payment-card details; Skipper does not store full card numbers.
  • Authentication information from a sign-in provider, such as your account identifier, name, email address, and verification status.
  • Usage and technical information, such as IP address, browser or device data, session information, feature interactions, diagnostics, and security events.
  • Communications you send to us, including support requests, feedback, and privacy requests.

How we use information

We use personal information to provide, operate, secure, maintain, and improve Skipper; manage accounts and payments; provide support and service communications; prevent abuse; comply with law; and protect Skipper, our users, and others.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we rely on performance of our contract, our legitimate interests in operating and securing the service, compliance with legal obligations, and consent where requested. You may withdraw consent at any time, without affecting earlier processing.

AI processing and Customer Content

Skipper may send relevant Customer Content to AI service providers to provide the service and produce requested results. AI-generated results may be incomplete or incorrect, so review them before making consequential decisions.

We use Customer Content to provide, maintain, develop, improve, and secure Skipper. You may opt out of using Customer Content for product improvement by contacting us at the address below with the subject “Content Use Opt-Out” and your account email. The opt-out applies after we process it and does not affect earlier use or processing needed to operate, secure, or support Skipper. We do not sell Customer Content. Do not upload personal information you are not authorized to process or specially regulated data unless your agreement with us expressly permits it.

Cookies, local storage, and analytics

We use cookies and similar storage for authentication, security, preferences, and, when enabled, website analytics. Analytics helps us understand how visitors use our website and may rely on an identifier stored in your browser.

You can control cookies and local storage through your browser, although blocking necessary storage may prevent some features from working. Depending on where you live, you may have additional choices for nonessential analytics.

How we disclose information

We disclose information only as needed to operate the service, follow your instructions, complete a transaction, protect rights and safety, or comply with law. Recipients may include:

  • Service providers that support hosting, storage, infrastructure, AI, authentication, payments, communications, analytics, and service monitoring.
  • Professional advisers, auditors, insurers, regulators, law enforcement, or courts when reasonably necessary or legally required.
  • A successor or prospective buyer in connection with a corporate transaction.
  • Other parties at your direction or with your consent, including members and administrators of your organization.

Sales and targeted advertising

We do not sell personal information for money. We also do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising or use Customer Content to advertise to you. If these practices change, we will update this policy and provide any legally required choices before doing so.

International data transfers

Skipper is operated in the United States and uses providers that may process information in the United States and other countries. These countries may have different data-protection laws from the country where you live. Where required, we use recognized transfer mechanisms and contractual safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses.

Data retention

We retain account information and Customer Content for as long as needed to provide the service and for legitimate business purposes such as security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, enforcement, and legal compliance.

Retention periods depend on the type and sensitivity of the information, the purpose for which we use it, the risk of harm from unauthorized use or disclosure, and legal requirements. We may retain limited information in backups, security logs, billing records, or legal records where necessary.

Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including encryption and access controls. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, know about, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of your personal information; restrict or object to processing; withdraw consent; opt out of certain sales, sharing, or targeted advertising; and appeal a decision about your request. You may also have the right to complain to a data-protection authority. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.

To exercise a right, contact us at the address below. We may verify your identity and authority before completing a request. Authorized agents may submit requests where permitted by law. If your request concerns Customer Content controlled by your organization, please contact that organization first; we will assist it as required by our agreement and applicable law.

Children

Skipper is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Users under 18 must have permission from a parent or legal guardian. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Skipper or the law changes. We will post the revised version and update the effective date. If a change materially affects your rights, we will provide additional notice where required.

Translations are provided for convenience. If a translated version conflicts with the English version, the English version controls to the extent permitted by law.
